Jethro's

As residents of Dunbar, my room-mate Erica and I are frequent visitors to a local gem called Jethro's- Fine Grub. Open 8-4 daily, there is no dinner menu just all day breakfast and lunch. It's the cutest little place with a quirky personality all its own. The servers are all super nice and the music choices are pretty classic as well, ranging from the perfect Now and Then soundtrack, to some old blues. Its the perfect atmosphere. If that weren't reason enough to take a trip over to Dunbar, the food is phenomenal. As a self-proclaimed breakfast lover (I would legitimately eat breakfast for every meal if I could), Jethro's is heaven. The Eggs Benny is my personal fave, and what's more it comes in about 5 different styles. The pancakes are bigger than a regular sized dinner plate, and there are 2 of them in a serving...good luck finishing them. I won't even get started on anything else, you can find out for yourselves. But basically when it comes down to it, anything you have at Jethro's is bound to be great, quite inexpensive and hey the lunch menu isn't too shabby either. If you plan to head over on a weekend be prepared to wait!

Happy Eating Everyone!

Snack Time

I am constantly craving food, some days it seems like I might be a bottomless pit. Here's a healthy snack for all you lovely readers to try out!

Apple Sandwiches
-core your apples first, proceed to slice
-slather on some peanut butter (or nutella, which i personally prefer)
-sandwich in some granola, banana slices, chocolate chips, or sliced almonds if you wish

And there you have it; a healthy snack that not only tastes good, I think it looks kind of cool and you can feel great about eating this any time!

Homemade Dinner

Last night Claire made Erica and I a delicious home cooked meal. Our 3 course meal of garlic bread, caesar salad (with Erica's homemade vinaigrette) and lasagna was to die for, add on a couple bottles of wine and it was totally complete.

Next up was TOBLERONE FONDUE. All I can say is that you have to try this. Sorry for the lack of pictures, but I was too busy indulging to remember to snap many. All you need is a few bars of Toblerone, a touch of water so its not super thick and voila! You have a picture perfect dessert.

We ended the night while watching the Grammy's, and listening to a 90's music compilation that was utterly phenomenal.

Super Bowl Recipes

We all know how hard it is to eat healthy and cheer on your favorite team, but look no further. Here are a few easy, yet healthy recipes for the big game!

Southwest Layer Dip

(with a phenomenal curry dipping sauce nonetheless )

Mini Turkey Meatballs
I like to use turkey instead of beef and to roll in some oats, or Red River cereal to add a healthy kick of fibre!

Voila! Grab a couple cases of your favorite beer, a few bags of tortilla chips, a couple of friends and you should be set for a great game!
